1) Complete ACES Basic Farm Hazard Training via Compass 2G.

NOTE: Use GOOGLE CHROME as the browser to access the Compass 2g website because the Farm Hazard Training ONLY works well through this browser. If you use any other browser you will not be able to hear the audio portion of the training and your Certificate of Completion may not print correctly at the end of the training module.

  • Open Google Chrome and paste this link into the browser: https://compass2g.illinois.edu
  • Sign into Compass2G using your NetID and Active Directory Password.
  • Browse the Course Catalog for “ACES Safety”.
  • Under Course ID you will see “aces_admin_train_141366”.
  • Highlight this course with your cursor and click on the grey arrow for a drop down menu which will allow you to “enroll”.
  • Complete the training module.
  • The module will personalize your Certificate of Completion with your name at the end of the training.
  • Send this Certificate of Completion to your supervisor and the SoyFACE Manager (soyface1114@gmail.com) as proof of completion.

2) Complete SoyFACE Safety Training via Compass 2G.

  • Follow the above instructions to access and sign in to Compass 2g.
  • Browse the Course Catalog for “SoyFACE Safety”.
  • Follow the above instructions to enroll and complete the SoyFACE Safety Training.
  • Send this Certificate of Completion to your supervisor and the SoyFACE Manager (soyface1114@gmail.com) as proof of completion.

3) Complete the Campus Division of Research Safety Hazard Communication Module (If required: SoyFACE Technicians/ farm staff only).

4) Read and sign the SoyFACE Health and Safety Plan (HASP) document.

  • The HASP will be provided to you by your supervisor or the SoyFACE Manager.
  • Read through the HASP document thoroughly.
  • Sign onto the HASP document on the last page, and return to the SoyFACE Manager.

5) Undertake respirator training and fit testing (if required).

  • The University of Illinois requires all employee working within the fumigation rings, to complete additional training and assessments before commencing work.
  • Read the University’s Respiratory Protection Program document for further instructions on undertaking the required training.

6) Attend the SoyFACE Safety Day.

  • The Safety Day will be held before the start of the field season to ensure all team members understand the safety requirements of working at the farm.
  • Complete all previous checklist items before attending the safety day.
  • All team members will need to sign onto the HASP document.
  • All team members who will work within the fumigation rings will complete the respirator training and fit testing on safety day.
  • All team members will participate in a site “walk-around” with the SoyFACE Manager, to understand the site’s safety requirements.
